See All ReviewsI’ve been going Helen’s since I was 2 years old. I’ve been getting take out breakfast 2-3 times a week and I tip waitresses even when I get take out. I picked up an order I’ve placed at least a dozen times and they forgot the drinks and the fries. No big deal but when I called to let them know just so they’d comp my drinks the next time the lady I spoke to on the phone insisted that she packed the bag and had everything correct. I was polite and told her we looked through everything and there was stuff in fact stuff missing. I was surprised at her reaction because I wasn’t rude or even upset about it. It wasn’t a huge issue, She was rude and argumentative over some damn fries! …Like I’m doing business with them regularly and tipping well over 20% just because and now I’m trying to scam them over some fries? After some back and fourth of her being rude to the point it was insulting I just told her not to worry about it and I wouldn’t be doing business with them again. It’s a damn shame I’ve been a regular here since I was a kid and have always tipped well and to be treated like that on the phone over some French fries and 2 sweet teas. The lady that I spoke to is the exact reason small businesses fail and the chain restaurants have taken over. And that’s ok at least when Bojangles screws up your order they don’t act like your a con artist going out of your way to get some free fries. The quality of the food at Helen’s has gone to shit anyways. I highly recommend Angie’s on the other side of Jacksonville if you want a good breakfast.
Little hole-in-the-wall spot with great food and even better prices. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and a buddy recommended it to me glad he did. Definitely one of those places you’re happy you checked out and will keep coming back to. Biscut and gravy, super crunchy hash brown, eggs, and a pancake.
I worked at this family-owned restaurant in my early 20s, and now I had the opportunity to choose the caterer for our company Christmas party. There was only one place that came to mind—not just because I worked there before, but because it’s a family-owned restaurant right here in our town. We need to support places like this. The food was amazing!!! Reconnecting with my former boss and coworkers made the entire process incredibly easy and helpful. This place has always been my favorite. Our employees were 100% happy with the quality of the food. And y’all… those biscuits—just saying.
